10 Most Common Questions Parents Ask Private Soccer Coaches Image

Our Blayze soccer coaches frequently receive the same questions from parents. Parents want to help their child improve their soccer skills and will turn to private soccer training as a method to help them excel.

It is natural to want to help your child succeed whenever possible. Private soccer training is a great way to do that!

Below is a list of 10 questions parents frequently ask private soccer coaches:

What are the benefits of private soccer training?

Private soccer coaching offers a more personalized approach to training. It allows the private trainer to focus solely on the individual player’s needs. This can lead to faster skill development and improved game performance.

In most team training, one coach oversees around 20 kids. That is a 20:1 coach-to-player ratio. That does not allow the coach a lot of time to focus on individual player skills. Sure, they might be able to give some feedback, but that dedicated focus on your child is lacking. If your child needs to work on their passing skills, then a private coach can work directly with them, running drills, that will help to improve that skill.

How often should my child have private sessions?

The frequency of sessions can vary depending on the child’s skill level, age, and end goals. However, we recommend at least one session per week to help with consistent improvement and to correct any potential bad habits.

When you work with one of our Blayze coaches, they will review game films at least once a month and develop weekly drills for you to help you hit your goals. Players have access to their coach directly through chat and one-on-one scheduled video sessions.

How long should private training sessions run?

Most private soccer coaching sessions run between 60-90 minutes. This allows enough time for a thorough warm-up, skill development, and cool-down. A Blayze weekly training plan will vary depending on the number of drills the player chooses to work on, and how long they decide to warm up and cool down. It could last anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

Also, Blayze video analysis sessions will vary depending on the coach’s feedback. Players can re-watch their coach’s feedback as often as they like.

What types of skills can my child work on during private soccer sessions?

Private soccer training can focus on a variety of skills, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and tactical awareness. It is important to communicate with your private coach any feedback your child’s team coach has given so the trainer can help tailor the training sessions to meet those goals as well.

A Blayze private soccer coach can also help your child develop more confidence through their 1:1 calls and goal setting. Confidence is a cornerstone of performance, and it develops through preparation and goal setting. Setting goals is an important aspect for any level sports player. Your goal-setting should focus on you; what you can contribute to the game and to your team. Focus on your strengths and both practice goals and game goals. When setting your personal goals, concentrate on what you can personally control during play.

Will my child work individually or in a group?

This question depends entirely on the coach. Many sessions are one-on-one, but some private coaches prefer working with two or more players. At Blayze we believe the whole point of private training is to keep it private. This allows the player the room to feel comfortable with failing and being vulnerable which is crucial to learning. So at Blayze, it’s always 1:1 with a coach.

Our players work individually with our professional coaches. Through video chat sessions and phone calls, your Blayze coach develops your weekly training plans and customizes each session to help drive your performance where you need it the most.

How can I ensure that my child is getting the most out of their private soccer training?

Communicate with your child’s private trainer. Make sure you understand your child’s progress and goals and the feedback the coach gives after each session. Look over the drills sent to your child in their Blayze account and monitor their progress in completing each drill. You can always reach out to your Blayze coach with any questions or concerns to ensure your child stays working toward their goals.

How can I find a reputable private soccer coach?

Word of mouth is the most common way to find a private soccer coach. Here at Blayze, you can review each coach’s profile and read over their insights in the Blayze blog catalog. From there you can select one of the coaches to work with.

How much does private soccer training cost?

The cost of private soccer training can vary depending on the trainer’s experience and location. It is important to discuss pricing upfront and make sure it fits your budget.

Blayze coaches are all professional or former professional soccer players. They have worked with the best and reached the highest levels. Blayze coaches know what it means to put in the hard work and accomplish their goals.

You may be lucky enough to live near or find a fantastic coach with a world-class resume. But if you are like most people, you don’t have that kind of access - which is why Blayze exists!

Will private soccer training conflict with my child’s team practices and games?

Private soccer coaching should complement your child’s team practices and games. Not conflict with them! Ensure you communicate with your child’s coach and schedule training sessions accordingly. If it is a heavy soccer week for your child with 3 team practices and 2-3 games on the weekend, your child may need to skip private training to ensure they give their body a proper rest day.

Because at Blayze we personalize everything, our coaches can learn what your team's head coaches are looking for and complement that.

How can I support my child’s progress outside of private soccer training?

Encouragement and a positive attitude go a long way in supporting your child’s progress. You can also practice with them at home and attend their games to show your support.

Private training can be a great investment in your child’s soccer development. Remember every child is unique and personalized training can help them reach their full potential on and off the field.
