Question of the week: How Much Time Off Should I Take in the Summer? Image

Summer😎 is a time when many soccer players take the time to relax and recharge. They like to spend time with their family and friends and explore other activities.

It is important to consider how much time off you take from soccer training during the summer. You want to ensure you are staying active, but also getting in some touches.⚽

This week, Blayze coach Sarah Woldmoe will discuss some factors to consider when deciding how to balance rest and training.

Consider Your Goals🥅

The amount of time off you take during the summer depends on your goals for the next season. If you are a competitive player who wants to improve their performance, you may need to continue your training through the summer. This will allow you to maintain and improve your fitness and skill level. If you are a recreational player, you can take more time off.

Listen to Your Body🧘‍♀️

It is essential to listen to your body. If you are feeling drained and fatigued, sore, or burned out, you may need to take a break. Rest and recovery are essential for preventing injuries and increasing your overall performance.

Consider Your Schedule 📆

Your schedule during the summer break can impact how much time off you can take. If you have a busy schedule with school, work, or other activities, you need to adjust your training schedule to fit your availability. You may need to look at training in the early morning or late evening hours.🕛

Plan for a Gradual Return🏃‍♂️

If you do take time off, it is important to plan a gradual return. Don’t jump back into intense training immediately. This will increase your risk of injury. Start with light workouts and lead up to more intensity and volume over time.

Stay Active🎾

Even if you are taking a break from soccer during the summer, you need to stay active. Participate in other physical activities, like swimming, hiking, cycling, or other sports. This will help to maintain your overall fitness and health.

To wrap up, the amount of time off you take during the summer depends on you. What are your goals? What is your body asking of you? Is your schedule open or busy? Take some time to rest, then make a plan to return to training in a way that does not over-exert your body.😴
