Thomas Merrill

Thomas won his first kart title in 1998 when he was just 11 and took six strait. At 16, he won his first regional championship, making it back-to-back the next year. On top that off, he went on to take back-to-back national titles in 2005 and 2006. 2006 and 2007 were spent racing formula cars in SCCA and the Pacific F2000, clinching a championship and Rookie of the Year award, as well as 3 track records and over 15 wins. In 2008, he made the transition to Grand Am with PR1 Motorsports, campaigning a Pontiac GXP.R and Dinan BMW M6 in the GT class through 2010. In recent years he has been a regular front-runner in the Trans Am Championship, scoring a total of 10 wins in the TA2 class with Big Diehl Racing and Mike Cope Racing, as well as joining the IMSA Prototype Challenge and scoring podium finishes in every race he has entered in that championship with K2R Motorsports. Thomas joined the Carrus-Callas racing team in 2020, helping achieve the win in the team’s first attempt at an endurance race. In 2021 Thomas drove for WIN Autosport in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup in an Oreca LMP2, scoring a win at the Sahlin's 6-Hours of the Glen, and Mike Cope Racing in Trans Am TA2. In 2022, Thomas joined Weathertech Racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and scored a 2nd place finish. Later that same year, Thomas and Mike Cope won the Trans Am Championship in TA2 with 3 wins, 3 poles, and 8 podium finishes. Thomas Started off 2023 strong with a win at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with AWA Racing in LMP3. He then joined Walkenhorst Motorsport for the 2023 Asian Le Mans campaign, securing the championship in GT with 2 wins and 2 pole positions.
